The FAA determines if you are eligible to take the
A&P tests. The requirements are a personal interview with an FAA Aviation
Safety Inspector (Air-worthiness), and bring the following documents for him to
review: 1) A certified Engineers License from your country, or 30 months experience working airframe and powerplants on US registered aircraft, documented in the form of a letter and signed by someone who will verify your work. (Director of Maintenance, Etc.) 2) A letter form your company stating that there is a "need" for your to be an FAA certificated A&P mechanic because you work on US registered aircraft. List system worked on, components removed and replaced, tasks performed, type of aircraft, engine, prop, list tools and equipment used. THE MORE DETAILED YOUR LETTER IS THE BETTER! 3) Call or write you CAA for an appointment for a personal interview to see if you are eligible. 4) A letter from your civil air authority stating that they recommend you to the FAA to take the A&P test. This letter must have their seal or stamp on it. The letter from CAA must mention the time period of your work experience and show details such as type aircraft worked on, and the job tasks accomplished that pertain to the ratings applied for (airframe and/or powerplant). 5) All must be originals. NO COPIES, NO FAXES APPLICANTS: Please take documents to the Federal Aviation
International Field Office that governs the area that you work in to obtain
authorization for the aircraft mechanic written, oral, and practical exams. Once
you have obtained authorization for the
mechanic exams, FEDERAL EXAMS will be pleased to enroll you and train you for
those exams.
