COURSE INFORMATION 

for

Airframe and PowerPlant

The following is needed to get the approval from the FAA :

PROOF OF MECHANICAL EXPERIENCE

Which can be in the following form:

1. A letter signed by an A&P mechanic supervisor, IA, etc. This letter must state that you meet the experience requirements of 18 months total for one rating or 30 months for both ratings.

Or

2. Military form DD-214 which indicates your MOS, AFSC, or Rate Number and appropriate service time of 18 or 30 months minimum, relative to your mechanical training, and/or performance records.

Or

3. Graduation certificate from an FAA approved technical school.

 

INSPECTION AUTHORIZATION

IA Students - You must go to your local FAA Flight Standards District Office and fill out an application to take the IA Exam. Once you have obtained this form, signed by the FAA, your are eligible to take the IA Exam at any computer test center that offers it. The test fee is $100. It should be to your advantage to attend our 3 day IA Test Refresher Course and test out at the conclusion. The IA Course is self-paced(3 day average) and instruction is one on one.

I.A. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

To be eligible for an Inspection Authorization, the FAA requires the applicant to:

  1. Have had your A&P for three years; and have been active in aircraft maintenance for the past 2 years.
  2. Have an address or telephone where you can be reached in a normal work week.
  3. Have available to you equipment, facilities and inspection data.
  4. Pass the written tests

If you are in doubt about your qualifications, contact the FAA Maintenance Inspector nearest you.

A student applying himself eight hours a day in his particular course will complete his course on the average as follows:

Airframe Course 40 hours
Powerplant Course 40 hours
Airframe & Powerplant Course 80 hours
Oral & Practical Course 24 hours
Inspection Authorization Course 40 hours


A & P MECHANIC COURSES

The Purpose of these courses is to prepare you for the FAA Mechanic written, oral and practical examinations. It is a refresher course. We work with experienced aircraft mechanics who desire to have an FAA A&P certificate. You must present to your local FAA office, proof of 30 months previous experience.
